In Russia, it is found only in the Far East: in Kamchatka, Sakhalin, in the Southern Kuriles, in the Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories. Outside the Russian Federation, it is found on the Korea Peninsula, in Japan and China.
Fern up to 30 cm high. Rhizome is short, dense. The fronds are collected in a bunch, the petioles are much shorter than the plate, in the lower part they are reddish-brown, shiny; scales are present only at the bases of the petioles. The plates are linear-lanceolate, narrowed towards the base, pinnately dissected. Terminal lobes with few sharp or elongated teeth.
Mesophyte, shade-tolerant.
Occurs on shaded rocks, talus.
