Homeland of Rhododendron parvifolium is Siberia, the Far East, Mongolia, Korea, China, North America. Grows in wetlands, in the alpine and subalpine belt of mountains, in swamps. Protected in reserves.
Rhododendron parvifolium is evergreen shrub, branched, erect, height 1 m. The crown is broadly oval. The bark is brown or dark gray. Leaves are oblong-lanceolate, 1 - 2 cm long, up to 1 cm wide, covered with scaly glands on both sides, leathery above, dark green. The flowers are lilac, rarely white, up to 2 cm in diameter, wide-funnel-shaped, odorless. Blooms in May - July, before the appearance of young leaves.
Fruits - capsules, ripen in September - October. All shoots grow upward. Photophilous. The soil is peaty, acidic or slightly acidic, moist. It is quite frost-resistant. In gardens, they are planted in groups in rock gardens.
