Adenophora divaricata is a perennial up to 1.3 m tall. Stems are single or several, straight, smooth, longitudinally finely ribbed, branching in the inflorescence. Basal and lower stem leaves die off by the beginning of flowering. The average stem leaves are 5-10 cm long and 2.5-6 cm wide, 3 in separate whorls, sessile or almost sessile, ovoid, often sharply pointed at the apex, serrate or coarsely serrate along the edge. Inflorescence 20-40 cm long, paniculate or racemose, multi-flowered. Flowers 2-3 cm long, 2-2.5 cm wide, drooping, broadly bell-shaped, blue or blue-blue. Inhabits oak forests, on dry slopes.
